The Spirit Clearly Speaks - a poem
Men will love
themselves,
And vanity and pleasure
And turn to these forsaking -
Christ, the one true treasure.
Because iniquity abounds
The love of many will grow cold
And hearts that were aflame for God
Will go lusting after gold.
Will we be strong to overcome?
Or will our light flicker and turn dim?
Friend, you will stay strong
If you cling with purpose unto Him.
Abide in Christ and seek to obey
His every command and desire
Seek Christ's face in earnestness
And keep your soul on fire.
You can't afford to lose your soul
By sinning or being deceived.
The end is near, the hour is closer
Then we first believed.
Only in Christ Jesus you will find
A refuge from the strife
By His grace you can be strong
To press into eternal life.
Be encouraged brethren!
And vanity and pleasure
And turn to these forsaking -
Christ, the one true treasure.
Because iniquity abounds
The love of many will grow cold
And hearts that were aflame for God
Will go lusting after gold.
Will we be strong to overcome?
Or will our light flicker and turn dim?
Friend, you will stay strong
If you cling with purpose unto Him.
Abide in Christ and seek to obey
His every command and desire
Seek Christ's face in earnestness
And keep your soul on fire.
You can't afford to lose your soul
By sinning or being deceived.
The end is near, the hour is closer
Then we first believed.
Only in Christ Jesus you will find
A refuge from the strife
By His grace you can be strong
To press into eternal life.
Be encouraged brethren!
